The Daily
In the days after Sarah Palin was nominated as the Republican Vice-Presidential candidate, the Web was rife with content focused on the Alaska governor. One of the most piquant -- and widely viewed -- video clips came from The Daily Show. In it, host Jon Stewart highlighted Palin doublespeak by conservative pundits. He showed, for instance, a clip of Bill O'Reilly calling the pregnancy of Palin's teen daughter a private issue just months after the Fox News commentator had lambasted actress Jamie Lynn Spears' parents for allowing their 16-year-old to get pregnant.
Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert fans can now watch their Comedy Central shows until the cows come home. Video site Hulu.com has announced that the two politically oriented, "fake news" shows will be available on that site.
The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report are among the first TV shows on the Hulu site that did not originate with the site's two parent companies, NBC Universal and News Corp. The Comedy Central network is owned by Viacom.

Early in 2008, the development team at Phase2 discovered Calais and immediately recognized it as a powerful tool for publishers. With the encouragement of the Thomson Reuters Calais team, we’ve developed the suite of modules as shown on this site.
Calais is Thomson Reuters’ Semantic Web service that enables publishers to automatically metatag the people, places, facts and events in their content to increase its search accessibility on the Web.
I'm an mechanical engineer by training and I used to spend hundreds of hours simulating load on virtual mechanical parts using finite element analysis. It was great I could try various permutations of length, width, tapers etc to optimize the load bearing capacity of the part and minimize the amount of material needed. I didn't have to build 50 different parts and test them in a lab. I learned many things in the simulations and after a while I intuitively knew where to start and was able to optimize the parts in 2 or 3 passes.
