Disney's decision to take a 30 percent stake in online video aggregator Hulu could be a significant milestone in the evolution of television. That's because Disney is adding its premium content to an already robust lineup from other Hulu stakeholders, including NBC Universal, News Corp., Sony Pictures, MTV Networks, Paramount and more than 100 others.

Online video site Joost is shopping itself around to different cable TV operators, but at least one has declined to buy it, according to people with knowledge of the talks.

Time Warner Cable Inc., the nation's No. 2 cable operator that recently separated from parent Time Warner Inc., is in talks with Joost for a possible acquisition, according to two people who spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment on confidential negotiations.

Mobile-device owners in the Washington, D.C., area will soon have free mobile access to some of their favorite television shows, thanks to a new program slated for this summer.

People can tune in to American Idol and other shows under a pilot program being launched to bring free digital mobile television to devices, the Open Mobile Video Coalition announced Monday at the National Association of Broadcasters Show in Las Vegas. The OMVC is an alliance of U.S. broadcasters focused on the development of mobile digital television.

Lesley Stahl went on to report to millions of viewers that malicious computer hackers have been creating more weapons that they plant on the Internet -- and the problem is growing. She called Conficker one of the most dangerous threats ever, infecting about 10 million computers worldwide.
