Hewlett-Packard has taken the wraps off the TouchSmart tx2 -- the PC maker's first convertible notebook screen to include capacitive multi-touch technology.

The controversy around digital-media piracy could become a thing of the past if a new partnership between MySpace, MTV Networks, and Auditude bears fruit.

Instead of filing lawsuits to stop piracy, the trio is looking to help copyright holders cash in on pirated content by embedding advertising into audience-uploaded videos across MySpace.

Rhapsody on Monday partnered with MTV Networks to launch Music Without Limits. They want to accomplish three goals in the digital-music industry: Speed the migration from proprietary formats such as Digital Rights Management (DRM) music; empower music fans to stream full-length songs and buy MP3s from music sites and social networks on the Web; and integrate digital music directly with mobile phones.

Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert fans can now watch their Comedy Central shows until the cows come home. Video site Hulu.com has announced that the two politically oriented, "fake news" shows will be available on that site.

The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and The Colbert Report are among the first TV shows on the Hulu site that did not originate with the site's two parent companies, NBC Universal and News Corp. The Comedy Central network is owned by Viacom.

Just in Time for Election

Adobe Systems on Wednesday released its free AIR-based Media Player 1.0 along with a new Adobe TV network. Adobe said the customizable, cross-platform player provides "exciting new ways for viewers to discover and interact with their favorite content" in addition to offering brand-building and revenue opportunities for publishers.

AIR 1.0 runtime, released in February, allows developers to use "proven web technologies to build rich Internet applications" for the desktop and across operating systems, according to Adobe.
